Ryan Dart has been lucky to
have studied with some of the greats at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA, including Charlie Haden (Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane), Joe LaBarbera (Bill Evans), and Alphonso
Johnson (John Scofield, Wayne Shorter), to name a few.
Ted Taforo is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and is
currently pursuing an MFA at the California Institute of The Arts. Ted is a two-time recipient of the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award and has been recognized by Downbeat Magazine with a Student
Music Award. Performance highlights include shows at the Blue Note in NYC, Catalina's in LA, the Chicago Jazz Showcase, and the Chicago Jazz Festival. Ted’s composition Long Distance is included
on the 24th volume of the CalArts Jazz Department CD, recorded at Capitol Records in Los Angeles. Ted has performed with the Fatum Brother's Jazz Orchestra and is featured on their album Live In
Chicago. Other past projects include a duo with pianist Jacob Dupre called L'Sowse and a collaborative trio with bassist Ben Thomas and drummer John Fatum called Lumbermen of The District. Ted
currently performs in LA-based bands Brundlefly, Tuque, Cape and Curtain, and The Big Panther. Ted also has a body of self-produced solo work which includes the recently released concept album
Texacoma.
